Project Manager

Salary: Competitive

Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Flexible working with no formal split, as this will vary depending on the time of year. The role will mainly be split between the Barnsley office and project sites, with home working opportunities available.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from school extensions and modular accommodation units to refurbishment and M&E replacement programmes.

As Project Manager, you will take ownership of projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with contractual, statutory and operational requirements.

What you will do:

  • Lead the planning, mobilisation and delivery of multiple concurrent lifecycle, minor works and capital projects across PFI school estates and complex facilities environments.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, scopes and resource plans, ensuring projects meet contractual obligations, KPIs and compliance requirements.
  • Manage project risks, issues and change control processes to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee contractor and supply chain performance from procurement through to project completion, ensuring quality, compliance and safety standards are met.
  • Coordinate works to minimise disruption to school operations and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide project reporting, governance documentation and regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and provide direction to Assistant Project Managers and Project Assistants where applicable.

What you will bring:

  • Strong project management capability across planning, delivery and project close out.
  • Commercial and financial management experience.
  • Understanding of PFI contracts and FM delivery models.
  • Experience managing projects within FM, construction or PFI environments.
  • Experience delivering works within live operational environments, ideally schools.
  • Proven contractor and stakeholder management experience.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or related field (desirable)
  • Relevant project management qualification (e.g. MCIOB) (desirable)
  • SMSTS (desirable)
  • Emergency First Aid at Work (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence – Required
