Are you a people-focused HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders to build high-performing teams and a positive workplace culture? We're looking for an experienced and pragmatic HR Manager to lead and deliver people solutions that support our growing business across Australia.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this is a hands-on generalist role that combines strategic HR partnering with operational delivery. You'll work closely with business leaders to provide advice, drive people initiatives, and ensure our people practices support both employee experience and business performance.
About the role
As HR Manager, you will be a trusted advisor to leaders across the business, providing practical and commercially focused HR support across the employee lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with Managers and Leaders to provide coaching, guidance and support on people matters
- Leading employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes and conflict resolution
- Supporting workforce planning, organisational design and talent development initiatives
- Driving employee engagement, culture and wellbeing programs
- Managing HR policies, procedures and compliance with relevant employment legislation and awards
- Supporting recruitment activities and talent acquisition strategies in partnership with hiring managers
- Leading onboarding and employee lifecycle processes to ensure a positive employee experience
- Providing HR reporting, workforce insights and recommendations to support decision-making
- Contributing to change management, integration and organisational development initiatives
- Supporting the continued integration of Amey Australia's people practices as part of the wider Amey Group
This is a highly visible role that requires strong relationship-building skills, sound judgement and the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational needs.
What we’re looking for
Must have:
- Previous experience in a HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations and HR best practice
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and providing advice to managers
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (Amey HRIS: HiBob)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting professional services, consulting, engineering or technical workforces
- Experience working across multiple states within Australia
- Exposure to organisational change, acquisitions or business integration activities
- Membership of AHRI or equivalent professional body
