We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Project manager to come and join our team on our Nuclear Restoration services account in Dounreay Power Station, Thurso, Caithness, KW14 7TZ

The standard hours of work are 40 hours Monday to Friday.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our vibrant and inclusive community on the Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) account, delivering projects that make a real, positive impact across the UK.

About the role

To lead and deliver capital projects within our Nuclear Portfolio at Dounreay Power Station and across complex facilities environments.

You’ll be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of construction projects within public sector contracts. This includes:

  • Major construction works such as building extensions and standalone new facilities
  • Modular accommodation units
  • Minor refurbishments and M&E replacement projects

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver projects end-to-end, from planning through to completion
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, on time and within budget
  • Maintain compliance with contractual, statutory and operational requirements

 

Location

This role is based at Dounreay. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance and hold a full UK driving license.

 

What you will do

  • Lead the planning, mobilisation and delivery of multiple projects across the NRS portfolio and complex FM environments
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, scopes and resource plans
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards
  • Oversee project risks, issues and change control processes
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Project Managers and Project Assistants
  • Develop cost plans and monitor spend to maintain budget control
  • Approve contractor valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Work closely with commercial teams to ensure strong financial governance
  • Drive cost efficiency and value across all projects
  • Manage contractors and supply chain partners from procurement through to completion
  • Review and approve RAMS, programmes and delivery plans
  • Monitor quality, carry out inspections and manage defects/snagging
  • Build strong relationships with client teams and internal stakeholders
  • Provide regular reporting, updates and act as the main escalation point for project issues

 

What you will bring

 

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or a related field (desirable)
  • Relevant project management qualification (e.g. MCIOB) and SMSTS (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Strong project management experience across planning, delivery and close-out
  • Proven commercial and financial management capability
  • Experience delivering projects within nuclear and/or highly regulated environments
  • Experience working in live operational environments
  • Strong contractor, supply chain and stakeholder management experience
  • Solid understanding of project lifecycle, governance and reporting
  • Ability to manage risk, cost, quality and programme effectively
  • Good knowledge of statutory compliance and HSEQ requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to prioritise under pressure
