Title: Facilities Team Leader
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Reactive Facilities Team Leader to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Long Lartin, this role is based on-site.
The base salary is between £35,143 - £41,341 dependant on experience.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days as a weekend shift pattern is in place, covering 1 in 3 weekends
There is a need to work some weekends on a rota basis and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

The Reactive Facilities Team Leader will oversee the day-to-day delivery of reactive maintenance activities across the prison estate, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and in line with contractual service levels. The role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance operatives and engineers, prioritising workloads, responding to urgent maintenance issues and ensuring excellent customer service is delivered across the site.
You will be responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating a team of facilities operatives and engineers delivering reactive maintenance works.
- Managing and prioritising maintenance requests to ensure service level agreements and contractual KPIs are achieved.
- Allocating work activities, monitoring progress and ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Responding to emergency situations and urgent maintenance issues, ensuring minimal disruption to prison operations.
- Conducting regular inspections of completed works to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company standards.
- Supporting the Facilities Manager in planning resources, managing workloads and driving operational performance.
- Ensuring maintenance records and job information are accurately maintained within CAFM systems.
- Identifying recurring issues and implementing solutions to improve reliability and reduce reactive maintenance demand.
- Leading and motivating the team to deliver a high standard of customer service and operational excellence.
- Ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times and promoting a strong health and safety culture across the site.
- Liaising closely with HMPPS stakeholders and site management to manage expectations and ensure operational requirements are met.
- Checking and approving timesheets in accordance with company procedures.
- Supporting wider facilities management activities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
We want to hear from you if you have/are:
- Previous experience supervising maintenance teams within a facilities management, building services or estate maintenance environment.
- Experience managing reactive maintenance operations and coordinating multiple workstreams.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively under pressure.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems.
- Knowledge of building fabric and M&E maintenance activities.
- Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
Ideally you will hold an IOSH Managing Safely qualification or equivalent and have experience working within a highly regulated environment.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience within custodial, healthcare, defence or other critical facilities environments to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
