The Opportunity

 

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Commercial Manager role within Consulting Highways to join our Team supporting the Devolved Accounts (Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland)

 

The role encompasses supporting the delivery of consulting highways projects throughout Wales / Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, offering a significant chance to work on specialist infrastructure projects.

 

This role suits a commercial manager ready to drive project success.  Main duties include producing quotations in a high-volume environment, ensuring delivery, manage change, liaising with the clients and numerous internal and external project teams and supply chains and supporting month end reporting procedures

 

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

 

  • Maintain effective valuation and commercial processes throughout the project lifecycle, focusing on the production of accurate and timely quotations.
  • Oversee compliance and production of process and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure a robust quotation process is followed.
  • Deliver opportunity and risk assessments both pre- and post-contract, including risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage client expectations working alongside them as one team.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project commercial KPIs.
  • Advise and support project staff on contract obligations and performance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internally to promote the Amey brand and influence successful results.
  • Robust commercial management of subcontractors and supply chain partners including the preparation, review and evaluation of subcontract enquiries, quotations and payments, final accounts and input to dispute resolution
  • Ensure Applications for Payment are submitted on time and ensure the Company recovers full entitlement for all works and variations
  • Support with Finance to ensure the full cost control of project(s) including providing and monitoring budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the senior Commercial and Operational account management, completing CVR reporting and managing WIP in line with contractual entitlement.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Amey systems, processes and procedures to deliver post contract management
  • Engage the wider team in the development and execution in accordance with the General Authorities and Delegated Authorities Schedules, of all project change and framework (Type 3) orders.

 

 

 

What you will bring to us:

 

  • Hold a quantity surveying, commercial or related profession, degree is desirable
  • Hold or be working towards professional qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in QS/Commercial roles
  • Fluent with Construction Contracts Act 2013 (Ireland) and working with Government Construction Contracts Committee (GCCC) – Standard form Public Works Contract (PWC) suite for RoI.

 

 

Skills

 

 

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Solid commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience with NEC3 / 4 forms of contract
  • Adaptable and collaborative communication skills

 

 

Experience

 

 

  • Proven background in commercial management
  • Experience working on highway projects is an advantage but not essential
  • Experience in supply chain procurement, management and accounting
  • Experience in variations (changes) management
  • Ability to contribute under supervision to accurate cost planning, financial control, CVR reporting, budgeting and WiP management through liaison with the finance and operational functions
