Title: General Operative/Handyperson
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a General Operative/Handyperson to Join our NRS Account in NRS Harwell, 10 Rutherford Ave, Didcot OX11 0DF – This role will be based on site.
The hours of work will be 37 hours per week:
Week 1 - 7:45 - 5:00pm Monday- Thursday
Friday - 7:45 - 12:15pm
Week 2:
Week 1 - 7:45 - 5:00pm Monday- Thursday
Friday - Off.
You will need a full UK driving licence for this role (company van will be provided)
As Handyperson you will support the Maintenance team in the provision of a high-quality service; ensuring the upkeep of designated areas by carrying out general and specific duties as directed.
What you will do:
- To carry out general portering, cleaning, Grounds maintenance, decorating duties as requested by the client via the Amey Management team.
- To carry out routine checks on plant and equipment to ensure optimum conditions are achieved
- Address any acute internal issues for example blocked drains, toilets, minor spillages.
- Painting and decorating as agreed and directed by management.
- Reporting of breakdowns/fault.
- Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.

- Candidates should be experienced in all aspects of groundwork, brickwork, concreting and hard and soft landscaping.
What you will bring:
- Previous maintenance experience working in a commercial environment
- General handyman skills joinery, painting and basic repair tasks
- Be flexible & carry out duties which are not specific to your trade
- Hold a full clean driving licence
- Holds relevant professional qualifications – time served apprenticeship, C&G or equivalent (desirable)
- Knowledge of Health & Safety & safe working practices, all mandatory Safety training will be given, but specialist training such as IPAF and PASMA will be offered.
- Understands the relevance of toolbox talks, Permit to Work procedures and safe systems of working.
- Flexibility over working hours (may be required to work evenings and weekends to ensure work is co-ordinated / completed)
- Strong customer care focus.
