Assistant Project Manager – Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS)

Location: (site-based)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Opportunity

Amey is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) team.

Working within one of the UK's most highly regulated and technically complex environments, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe and successful delivery of multiple construction, engineering and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with Project Managers, contractors, suppliers and client stakeholders, helping to coordinate activities on site, monitor progress, manage risks and ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest standards.

Whether you're looking to take the next step in your project management career or build on existing site delivery experience, this is an opportunity to gain exposure to major projects while contributing to important work that supports the UK's nuclear decommissioning programme.

What You'll Do

  • Support Project Managers in the successful delivery of multiple concurrent construction and engineering projects.
  • Act as Amey's dedicated site presence, coordinating day-to-day project activities and contractor operations.
  • Monitor project progress against programme, identifying and escalating risks, issues and potential delays.
  • Coordinate contractors and supply chain partners to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed plans.
  • Carry out site inspections, safety observations and quality checks to maintain high standards of delivery.
  • Review project documentation including RAMS, permits to work and construction records.
  • Support daily briefings, toolbox talks and contractor coordination meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across all project activities.
  • Assist with project reporting, documentation, programme updates and performance tracking.
  • Support the identification and management of project changes, Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors, designers and the wider project team.
  • Champion Amey's Zero Code and promote a strong behavioural safety culture across site activities.

What We Need

We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to project delivery, takes ownership of their work and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.

Essential

  • NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision (or equivalent) or QCF Level 6 in Construction Site Management (or equivalent experience).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience supporting construction, engineering or facilities management projects.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements within live operational environments.
  • Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and multiple stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Temporary Works Awareness.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated environments.

You'll Also Be

  • Safety focused and committed to maintaining high standards.
  • Proactive, professional and accountable.
  • A strong relationship builder who works collaboratively with others.
  • Solutions focused and able to resolve issues effectively.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and delivering excellent client outcomes.

Security and compliance

For NRS activity, Triple Bar training is required through a three-hour online course with videos and assessment. SC Clearance may also be required, although this may not always be needed before gaining site access.
