37.5 Hours Per week (shift pattern Monday to Friday 7:00am to 15:00pm) 

Salary - up to £41,000 per annum

We’re looking for a skilled Electrician to join our team on our Clackmannanshire Estate. While the primary responsibility involves covering school sites, flexibility is essential as the team also supports additional locations to provide cover during annual leave and sickness. A company van is provided for work-related travel only, ensuring you have the tools and mobility needed to succeed in this dynamic role.

Role Purpose – FM Electrician (Schools)

To deliver a high‑quality electrical maintenance service across a portfolio of school buildings, ensuring statutory compliance, safe systems of work, and minimal disruption to educational activities. The role supports Amey’s contractual obligations through effective planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.

 

What you will do:

  • Undertake planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on electrical systems in accordance with the contract requirements, statutory legislation and Amey procedures.
  • Receive, manage and close reactive maintenance jobs and PPM tasks via the CAFM system, ensuring accurate updates, time recording and job completion notes are maintained.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, repair and replacement of electrical components, including lighting, small power, emergency lighting and associated services.
  • Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and faults, prioritising health, safety, safeguarding and operational continuity within school environments.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with the appropriate Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS, permits, isolations and lock‑off procedures.
  • Actively fault find and problem solve across domestic and commercial electrical systems within educational buildings, implementing safe and permanent repairs.
  • Complete electrical installation works in accordance with provided designs, Amey standards and current IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Carry out testing, inspection and certification of electrical installations in line with current IEE/IET regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, test certificates and compliance documentation, uploading information to CAFM systems as required.
  • Monitor, manage and order critical spare parts and materials to ensure continuity of service and reduce reactive downtime.
  • Liaise professionally with school staff, caretakers, FM supervisors and contract management, providing clear communication on works, risks and completion status.
  • Support minor works, compliance upgrades and project activity as required across the estate.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the site or contract, supporting the wider FM team where necessary.

 

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Be responsible for ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental standards are met at all times in line with Amey policies and legal requirements.
  • Work in a manner that recognises the safeguarding responsibilities associated with working in schools and occupied buildings.
  • Proactively identify hazards, report near misses, and contribute to a strong safety‑first culture across the contract.

 

 

What you will bring:

  • Appropriate technical qualification eg City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above
  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition*.
  • Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
  • Capable of working at heights.
  • Ability to work alone and use initiative.
