Title:  Senior Project Engineer - S&T

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Senior Project Engineer (S&T) to join our dynamic Eastern and Southern team at York. 37.5 hrs per week, hybrid working.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering activities and engineering teams across allocated projects, ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with contract specifications, quality requirements and agreed programme timescales. The role involves overseeing the successful delivery of engineering works, supporting commercial and financial management activities through accurate reporting and forecasting, and developing strong collaborative relationships with project teams, clients and key stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and successful project outcomes.

 

This role offers you the unique opportunity to work with one of NR main contractors on Signalling and Telecoms frameworks across the Eastern region.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the engineering activity on allocated projects including support for design reviews; communication and consultation with other functions (design, install and test) over changes; and interfaces with other disciplines (including facilitating inter-disciplinary check meetings). 
  • Act as Designated Project Engineer or Contractors Responsible Engineer as nominated.
  • Provide input to the appropriate Engineering Manager on the engineering resource required to deliver the project plan and provide engineering review of the method statements and risk assessments proposed for works where required.
  • Carry out and record briefings of technical updates to the project team, including sub-contractors.
  • Promote best practice and pro-actively identify to resource owners additional training requirements and development opportunities. 
  • Ensure that materials are specified correctly, orders are placed to meet the project programme and that an up to date material schedule is maintained for the project. 
  • Produce and implement an inspection and surveillance regime, consistent with company and safety standards and project requirements. 
  • Provide sufficient site support to the project team (Project Manager, site supervisors, resource providers and sub-contractors) throughout the works to ensure that critical engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner and that issues arising can be dealt with to ensure compliance with a minimum of re-work.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng / IEng through ICE) or approaching CEng or IEng status having completed the necessary training requirements or working towards
  • Proven track record in Rail - Signalling and Telecoms projects at a Project Engineering level. 
  • Good understanding of the construction / railway industry. 
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM regulations 
  • Understanding commercial processes and requirements. 
  • Highly effective motivator with strong written and spoken communication skills and capable of interfacing at all levels in the organisation.
