We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Plumber at HMP Full Sutton, York.
Join our vibrant and inclusive Facilities Management team delivering critical maintenance services on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. Working within a secure environment, you will play an important role in ensuring the prison estate remains safe, compliant and fully operational for staff, visitors and residents. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled plumber seeking long-term job security, structured working hours, career development and the chance to work on a single site without travelling between locations.
What you will do
- Deliver planned and reactive plumbing maintenance across the prison estate.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective first-time repairs to minimise disruption.
- Maintain and repair mains water systems, sanitary services and associated plumbing infrastructure.
- Complete inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments to support compliance requirements.
- Identify and replace life-expired equipment, helping maintain safe and reliable facilities.
- Work collaboratively with the wider facilities team to deliver a high-quality maintenance service.
Working Pattern
- 39 hours per week
- Shift rota working:
- 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday
- 08:00 - 16:00 Friday to Sunday
- 1 in 3 weekends with an additional 15% weekend allowance
What you will bring
- A proactive and safety-focused approach to work.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience carrying out plumbing maintenance within commercial, industrial or large-scale environments.
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (essential).
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Legionella Awareness training (desirable).
- Ability to work effectively within a secure and highly regulated environment.

Security Clearance
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to obtain prison security clearance alongside a Standard DBS check and Counter Terrorism Check (CTC). Amey will support you throughout the vetting process.
