At Amey, we support His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service by helping to provide safe, clean and efficient prisons. Our Facilities Management teams use their expertise to keep secure premises across England and Wales operating safely and smoothly.

  • Help ensure maintenance work is completed safely by providing contractors with access to the appropriate areas.
  • Carry out general handyperson activities, minor repairs and basic building maintenance.
  • Support tradespeople and other members of the Facilities Management team with planned and reactive tasks.
  • Check that fittings, appliances and the general environment are in good working order, reporting defects promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site and assist with other Facilities Management duties when required.

What you will bring

Essential:
  • A professional, responsible and security-conscious approach.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and support different maintenance activities.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in general building maintenance, handyperson work or a similar practical role.
  • Experience working alongside contractors or tradespeople.
  • A relevant trade qualification, NVQ or CITB certification.
We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.
If you have most but not all these skills and experiences, we encourage you to apply. We may be able to offer development and training to support your growth.

Security clearance

Because this role is based within a prison environment, prison security clearance will be required. This will include a Level 2 prison security check and an Enhanced DBS check with child barring.
