Title: Assistant Construction Manager
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Construction Manager to join our Area 10 account in Runcorn. This role is based on-site at Preston Brook (WA73AT).
This role plays a key part in ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality, on programme and within budget, supporting the Construction Manager across all site activities.
The standard hours of work are 40 hours, Monday – Friday.
What you’ll do:
- Support the Construction Manager in the safe and effective delivery of construction works.
- Ensure all site staff clearly understand their roles, responsibilities, and Amey’s Protecting People ethos.
- Manage site teams in line with One HR policies and Amey procedures.
- Promote a positive safety culture and set health, safety and environmental standards on site.
- Ensure Health & Safety Plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Undertake checks to ensure daily briefings are prepared and communicated effectively.
- Participate in support site safety and workforce consultation meetings.
- Review accident and near-miss reports, supporting investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate monthly safety reporting is completed on time.
- Support preparation of Health & Safety Files and SWMP documentation.
- Review works information and liaises with design teams on discrepancies prior to pricing.
- Support contract administration including certificates, payments, completions and defect management.
- Monitor contracts for disallowed costs and compliance.

- Relevant construction or highways qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Personal Highways Safety certification
- Environmental Awareness for Managers

Experience
- Previous experience within the construction or highways sector
- Experience supporting construction delivery and contract administration
