Title: Engineering Quality & Technical Manager

Location: Flexible UK Location with travel across Defence Equipment sites as required

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Join our vibrant and inclusive Defence Equipment business, supporting the maintenance, repair and lifecycle management of critical equipment across the UK Defence Equipment sector. This is a highly influential leadership opportunity where you will act as the technical authority for engineering quality, compliance and equipment supportability, helping to ensure operational readiness for our customer, the UK Ministry of Defence. Working closely with operational teams, OEMs, suppliers and senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in delivering safe, compliant and sustainable engineering solutions that support critical national infrastructure and defence capability.
What you will do:
- Lead engineering quality and technical assurance activities across a diverse defence equipment portfolio, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards and contractual requirements.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance to operational teams, customers, suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- Manage equipment modifications, Technical Service Bulletins, Equipment Safety Notices and warranty processes to maintain safety, reliability and performance.
- Drive equipment sustainability initiatives including obsolescence management, service life extension planning and technical supportability programmes.
- Lead, develop and inspire a technical engineering team, promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collaborate with supply chain partners and stakeholders to minimise equipment downtime, improve equipment availability and support strategic business objectives.
What you will bring:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop teams, influence stakeholders and drive high performance.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering quality, technical compliance and equipment maintenance within a complex engineering environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting budgets, lifecycle costing and supplier performance.
- Essential: Technical qualification at Level 3/4 (City & Guilds or equivalent) and a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Desirable: Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Engineering Technician (EngTech), IOSH qualification and professional body membership.
- Significant experience within plant, equipment maintenance or engineering disciplines, including technical leadership, project delivery and supply chain engagement.
