What will the role offer?

Key Projects:
As an appointed Design Partner on some of the UK’s most significant and complex rail infrastructure projects including Wales & Borders. We are proud to support major programmes such as Northern Powerhouse Rail, Eastern Routes Partnership, Northwest & Central Framework, Core Valley Lines, Trans-Pennine Route Upgrade, and Cardiff Crossrail. Our in-house engineering team delivers design solutions across all Network Rail stages and disciplines, driving improved connectivity, enhancing passenger journeys, and shaping the future of rail safety and efficiency.

What you will be doing:
Our Signalling Engineers play an important part within the Consulting Rail Signalling team and alongside our clients including Network Rail. As a Signalling Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team on a variety of Rail design schemes whilst taking the lead on projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the signalling design elements of complete projects including control systems, interlocking, track circuits and communication systems. To lead a team to product technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
- Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Developed experience and expertise within Rail Design Engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
- An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
- Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence and to the level defined by their education
- A demonstrable commitment to their plan of actions and key dates leading to successful completion of either the professional review or end point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
- EngTech status is desirable, gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned
