£30,866 – £36,135 + 15% shift allowance

We’re recruiting an experienced Carpenter & Joiner to join the facilities maintenance team at HMP Manchester. This is a secure, permanent role on a long-term Ministry of Justice contract.

The Role

• General carpentry and joinery maintenance
• Repairs to doors, windows, formwork, signage and bespoke timber items
• Running and maintaining the joinery workshop
• Measuring jobs, quoting works and ordering materials
• Managing workshop equipment, inspections and housekeeping

Hours & Working Pattern

• 39 hours per week
• Rota-based:
  • Saturday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
  • Friday: 08:00–16:00
• 1 in 4 weekends (paid with 15% shift allowance)

What You’ll Need

• NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (NVQ Level 2 considered with experience)
• Maintenance or facilities experience
• Confident with hand tools, ladders and workshop equipment
• Reliable, organised and safety focused
