The Role

As an Architect, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality architectural solutions across a range of projects and sectors. You will take ownership of designs, drawings, specifications and technical deliverables, working independently while supporting and supervising junior team members. You will also play an active role in client engagement, project delivery and business development activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Produce technically sound architectural solutions that comply with client requirements, statutory regulations and industry standards.
  • Prepare and check designs, drawings, calculations, reports and technical documentation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Take ownership of architectural deliverables, ensuring quality, cost and programme objectives are achieved.
  • Work independently while supervising and supporting more junior members of the team.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers, attending meetings and responding to technical queries.
  • Coordinate design information with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Manage the workload and day-to-day activities of a small technical team where required.
  • Contribute to bid submissions and wider business development activities.
  • Support the management of project risks and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys, including occasional site-based assignments where required.
  • Support project delivery across a diverse portfolio of sectors and clients.
  • Assist with mentoring, training and development of junior team members.

What you will bring to us

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Architectural Practice accredited to RIBA Part 3 or an equivalent RIBA-recognised qualification.
  • Registered Architect with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) or working towards registration if applicable.
  • Developing experience within an architectural role, likely gained in an Assistant Architect or similar position.
  • Ability to apply architectural theory and principles to practical project challenges.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing architectural designs, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Good working knowledge of industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM platforms and other design tools.
  • Strong understanding of planning processes, Building Regulations and relevant legislation.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations and risk assessment processes.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery requirements.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to programme deadlines.

Desirable

  • Chartered Membership of RIBA.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary consultancy environments.
  • Experience across sectors such as Defence, Justice, Education, Rail, Transport or Commercial developments.
  • Experience working on projects through multiple RIBA stages.
  • BIM and digital design experience.
  • Experience supporting fee proposals, bids and work-winning activities.
  • Line management or mentoring experience.
