The opportunity 

 

We are currently recruiting for a Framework Director to join our Advisory business in Consulting - a vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates our differences and makes a real impact across the UK.   

 

This main purpose of the role will be to lead Amey’s performance across a strategically significant portfolio of framework contracts within the Advisory business.  Accountable for maximising value from frameworks through effective governance, pipeline development, framework mobilisation and continuous improvement, working in close partnership with Delivery, Practices, Commercial, Finance and Business Development.

 

You will be accountable for portfolio P&L performance and delivery of agreed revenue, margin and cash targets, implemented via a shadow P&L. The geographic reach of the frameworks will cover the UK and any new international geographies.

 

This role will shape client satisfaction, repeat work, and framework renewals / re-bids and will influence Amey operational standards and capability deployment.

 


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Framework portfolio leadership: Establishes a Frameworks team for the ongoing farming of all Advisory Framework contracts.  Responsible for maximising value from all existing and new frameworks and working collaboratively to ensure optimum delivery.  Establishes robust governance for the monitoring of framework performance.
  • Commercial & financial accountability: Accountable for revenue, margin and cash targets for the framework portfolio through a ‘shadow’ P&L in partnership with Commercial and Finance.
  • Growth & pipeline: Drives growth within existing frameworks (framework “farming”), including opportunity identification, shaping, bid/no-bid decisions, and conversion to work orders / commissions; contributes to re-bids and new framework wins. 
  • Framework mobilisation and readiness: Leads mobilisation/demobilisation as required; ensures governance, systems, supply chain and resourcing are in place to deliver day one performance and a safe transition.
  • Resource and capability deployment: Works with Practice/Technical leads and Delivery leads to plan, secure and deploy capability; balances utilisation, competence, and development needs across the portfolio.
  • Risk, compliance and assurance: Ensures robust risk management, audit readiness and compliance with Amey governance, client requirements and relevant standards; ensures lessons learned are embedded.
  • Supply chain management: Leads supplier and partner performance (where applicable), including selection, governance, assurance and performance improvement, aligned to contractual and ethical requirements.
  • Leadership and people: Provides inspirational, inclusive leadership; sets clear direction and expectations; coaches and develops teams; builds succession plans and maintains a high-performance culture.
  • Health, safety & wellbeing: Champions Amey’s safety culture, ensuring safe planning and delivery, proactive risk management, and the confidence to ‘Shout Out!’ when concerns arise.

 

 

What you will bring to us

 

 

  • Skilled at identifying early client needs and shaping them into commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to lead virtual teams across Practices and influence without direct authority.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity in early opportunity stages and adept at progressing them to structured work.
  • Have strong commercial capability with experience of P&L ownership
  • A track record of managing senior client relationships and multi‑year portfolios with a strong record of delivery success.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful client and project delivery in complex environments and robustly managing contract performance.
  • Strong project management capability
  • Demonstrates well-developed communication, relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Analytical/uses data and insight to drive decision making.
  • Decisive, drives forward decisions and ensures efficiency.
  • Experience running large contracts or portfolios to time and budget. 
  • Experience managing a significant client, or multiple smaller customers.
  • Have operated within a matrix structure seeking support to deliver through influence and collaboration.
  • Experience and/or understanding of industry and market.
  • Experience of bid management including mobilisation and demobilisation.
  • Managed a Business Improvement or change management project.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Professional qualification in relevant field, or equivalent experience
