Title: Trainee Planner
Your New Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Planner to join our M8 account based in Glasgow. This is a full-time, onsite role, and you must be able to travel to Polmadie, Glasgow.
Our M8 account is working in partnership with Scottish Roads since 2014, we are responsible for completing and upgrading motorway networks and trunk roads in central Scotland.
We have this far completed 30 kilometres of motorway network between Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as 12 kilometres of new build road and 16 kilometres of network upgrades. This has resulted of the works being undertaken the new section of road between Glasgow and Edinburgh to help save up to 18 minutes off journeys at peak times for drivers travelling between the two cities.
Our aim is to continue to maintain motorway networks and trunk roads through to 2047, to ensure we create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.
As a Trainee Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of planning activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop an understanding of planning processes, build strong communication skills, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the development, review, and updating of plans to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organisational policies
- Collaborating with internal teams to gather information on planned engineering and construction activities
- Supporting the submission of planning requests to route planning teams, including those associated with access requests
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date planning records and documentation
- Assisting with the preparation of detailed planning documentation, including procedures and safety precautions
- Communicating plans clearly with on-site teams to ensure understanding and compliance
- Keeping up to date with industry best practice and emerging trends related to planning processes
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A conscientious and confident approach with a polite, helpful attitude
- Previous administration experience, including the use of Microsoft Office packages
- Experience supporting a wider team or business function
