Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Safety Advisor to join our Transport Infrastructure division on the Woodside Viaduct Project in Glasgow. This is a permanent, full-time, site-based role, offering the chance to play a key part in the safe delivery of a major civil engineering scheme.

You’ll work as a key member of the Principal Contractor’s management and delivery team, collaborating closely with a range of major subcontractors across multiple engineering disciplines.

The standard hours of work are Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

As Construction Safety Advisor, you will support the operational teams to drive a strong, positive safety culture and ensure best practice across site activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting best practice through continuous professional development, keeping up to date with legislation, regulation, and industry standards
  • Developing and delivering safety briefings to support effective communication across operational teams
  • Supporting incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of preventative actions
  • Assisting operational teams to develop and review safe systems of work and risk assessments
  • Undertaking site inspections, audits, and monitoring activities in line with the Business Unit Audit & Inspection Plan
  • Providing account-level feedback on the effective implementation of safety policies and procedures
  • Supporting delivery of the Amey HSEQ strategy through regular site engagement and workforce interaction
  • Analysing safety data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and develop action plans
  • Positively contributing to account-level health and safety meetings
  • Providing practical guidance to operational teams on the application of Amey’s safety policies and procedures

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Proven ability to drive positive change in HSEQ culture, capability, and performance
  • Strong safety knowledge with the confidence to support and challenge operational teams constructively
  • An engaging communication and influencing style, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Previous experience in a similar safety advisory role within a construction or infrastructure environment
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across wider Operational Safety teams
