Salary: £30,866 - £36,135 plus 15% shift allowance for weekend rota participation

Hours: 39 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 07:30 - 16:30 and Saturday/Sunday 08:00 - 16:00. Working 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis.

You'll play a key role in helping maintain a safe, secure and compliant environment at HMP Frankland, ensuring the prison operates efficiently for staff, visitors and residents.

What you will do

  • Deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure prison facilities remain safe, compliant and operational.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve issues across a range of electrical systems, minimising disruption and maintaining service standards.
  • Carry out electrical repairs, replacements, inspections and testing in line with BS7671 regulations.
  • Support the ongoing safety and compliance of the site by maintaining accurate records and completing associated documentation.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture by adhering to Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments and statutory requirements.
  • Support wider site operations, including escorting duties and assisting Authorised Persons and Responsible Persons when required.

 

What you will bring

  • A proactive and safety-focused approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent (essential).
  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification, or 17th Edition with a willingness to upskill (essential).
  • Good knowledge of electrical maintenance, fault finding and planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and current health and safety requirements.
  • Strong organisational, communication and time management skills, with experience working to deadlines.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and compliance reporting.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm and CCTV systems would be advantageous (desirable).

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this role, successful applicants will be required to obtain Prison Security Clearance, including a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) and DBS clearance. Amey will support you throughout the clearance process.
