We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Business Partner to support Amey’s expanding Rail portfolio in Ireland. This role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with Irish health & safety legislation while supporting the safe delivery of rail projects.

In this role, you will provide strategic Health & Safety leadership, governance assurance and regulatory oversight across rail projects, construction activity and corporate operations in Ireland. Working in close partnership with senior leaders, you’ll help set direction, manage risk and ensure Amey fully and consistently discharges its statutory duties under Irish legislation and subscribed standards.

 

You will take a leading Health & Safety role, establishing effective and systematic arrangements that enable the business to meet its legal obligations and operate in a compliant, controlled and proportionate way.

 

You will champion Amey’s core value of ‘Safety First, Always’, acting as the Health & Safety conscience of the business and driving a strong, positive safety culture across all areas of delivery.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and lead Health & Safety governance, frameworks and oversight across rail projects, construction activity and corporate operations in Ireland.
  • Establish and embed compliant Health & Safety systems aligned to Irish legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Construction Regulations 2013.
  • Partner with senior leaders to shape direction, define risk appetite and build assurance structures that ensure Amey fully discharges its statutory duties.
  • Develop and implement Health & Safety strategies, policies, standards and procedures, embedding Safety First, Always and the Zero Code across the business.
  • Build occupational health, behavioural safety and competence frameworks, ensuring appropriate training, capability and minimum standards are in place.
  • Develop robust investigation and learning processes, leading serious incident reviews and ensuring effective root cause analysis and action closure.
  • Act as the senior professional authority, providing expert challenge, escalation and representation with clients, regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Support and influence bids, mobilisations and early project activity by developing risk leadership, governance and Health & Safety controls from the outset.

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, rail or transport environments

Desirable

  • Rail or light rail experience
