The Opportunity

 

We, at Amey, are thrilled to announce our expansion across Ireland. With our office located in central Dublin, we are set to grow our presence across the Republic of Ireland over the coming months, building on our existing presence in Northern Ireland. This expansion will bolster our support for a range of major Highway and Railway projects across the island.

 

Our expertise in the asset management, design, procurement, and supervision of major infrastructure in the Highways, railways and property sectors has driven our success. In addition to our offices in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, we are intensifying our investment in Ireland, and over the past six months, have established a small team of dedicated professionals.

 

Our Director, Rodney Moffett, highlighted recent Government commitments to investments in transport infrastructure, Metrolink, Luas extensions, and BusConnects. Additionally, significant upgrades to electricity infrastructure across the island underscore our strategic decision to invest in Ireland.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Environmental Coordinator to join our Consulting design hub in Dublin. This is a hybrid role, offering you flexibility to work between the office and home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that harm to the environment brought about by construction activities is minimised as much as possible
  • Carry out environmental monitoring throughout the project lifecycle and will be required to have a full understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (“EIAR”) and any Natura Impact Statements
  • Act as a source of expert advice in regards land and property, providing analysis and strategic advice on various environmental related matters
  • Support the Land, Property and Planning Lead in leading the Environmental and Sustainability sub-functional area, assuming responsibility for the performance management of CP personnel deployed
  • Develop and maintain a detailed resourcing plan for the Environmental and Sustainability sub-functional area and will oversee the day-to-day activities of the CP personnel deployed

 

 

What you will bring to us:

  • Extensive Environmental experience with a proven track record of carrying out environmental coordination activities across the project lifecycle through to completion in high value road and / or infrastructure projects or projects of a similar scale / complexity to CBCIW
  • Further demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following is desirable:
    • Statutory planning procedures and processes for planning, construction and operation of major infrastructure
    • Appreciation for working in an organisation with a strong sustainability focus
    • Specialist environmental knowledge in areas that are relevant to the delivery of infrastructure including, for example:
      • Biodiversity
      • Population and land use
      • Airbourne / ground borne noise and vibration
      • Air quality
      • Hydrology / hydrogeology
      • Soils and geology
      • Materials and waste management
      • Agronomy
      • Cumulative impact assessment
      • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
      •  
      • Driving best practice in environmental assessment activities, processes, policies, and standards; o Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of processes and guidance to support project delivery and reporting; o Managing high-performing staff / teams including carrying out performance management, undertaking resource planning and embedding a focus on continuous improvement and best-practice; and o Delivering solutions and results in dynamic environments.

 

    • Driving best practice in environmental assessment activities, processes, policies, and standards
    • Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of processes and guidance to support project delivery and reporting
    • Managing high-performing staff / teams including carrying out performance management, undertaking resource planning and embedding a focus on continuous improvement and best-practice
    • Delivering solutions and results in dynamic environments.

 

  • Ability to manage multiple technical requirements and teams within a construction environment
  • Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service delivery
  • Strong team leadership skills with an ability to influence to drive effective design decision making
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an Environmental Sciences discipline  
  • Chartered member of relevant professional body e.g. Chartered Environmentalist is desirable
  • SafePass accreditation is desirable
