We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Waste Operative to come and join our team on our Nuclear Restoration services account in Somerset, Hinkley Point A Site, Bridgwater, TA5 1YA.

The standard hours of work are 40 hours Monday to Thursday (shift pattern is 07:30am to 17:00pm)

Our waste team will work as part of the facilities management team at Hinkley Point A site and support the client waste team in the delivery of a compliant and managed waste process. The role will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of general duties including but not limited to waste collections, escorting, organising skip movements, and sample collections and compliant checks and assist as required in the delivery of an effective waste operation. You will report to the site management team and NRS waste team. 

What you will do:

  • Waste collections around site.  
  • Delivery of supplies around site. 
  • Escorting of contractor delivering and collecting. 
  • Driving and escorting. 
  • General office duties.  
  • Deputising the assistant Waste officer during holiday and absence. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all assigned work orders. 
  • Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policies. 
  • Completion of documentation as required, including RAMS and adhere to all associated permits. 
  • To assist all trades within the team and through the correct training be able to complete tasks away from your core skills. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner 
  • Proactively walk the floors, reporting any defects or H&S issues to the helpdesk and appropriate manager. 

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Experience of waste movements and collections.   
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements.  
  • Have a proactive approach to varied time sensitive delivery. 
  • Confident, driven and pro-active. 
  • Able to do the job right and do it right first time, within a pre-determined timescale. 
  • Willingness to undertake further training. 
  • Ability to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works. 
  • Following risk and method statements as required on a daily basis. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner. 
  • Must hold a full UK driver's license. 
  • Ability to record work accurately on work sheets and computer based systems. 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team. 
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment. 
  • Wanting to achieve success, for his or her self, the business and the customer. 
  • Flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive). 
  • Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued. 
  • Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments. 
  • HSE management in accordance with our Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner
