The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Arboriculturalist to join our Consulting Energy Transition & Sustainability team on a 6-month fixed term contract.
Our Energy Transition & Sustainability team provides strategic environmental consultancy services across transport, utilities, defence, and local government infrastructure. The team has a diverse range of skilled people with expertise in ecology, noise, air quality, landscape, arboricultural services, archaeology, carbon modelling, EIA coordination, EMS and auditing, and GIS specialists, servicing the environmental consulting needs within the wider Amey group.
The role
Due to increased workload, we are seeking to recruit an Arboriculturist. The successful candidate will provide skilled surveying and technical advice to our highways client as part of a secondment and support to the other members of the arboricultural team.

Responsibilities include:
- Provide support to colleagues on current technical and industrial developments and regulation concerning arboriculture.
- Help develop and maintain quality assurance standards and continual improvement of services and delivery by the arboricultural team.
- Support other businesses within Amey to deliver H&S, client requirements and environmental protection.
- Integrate arboriculture into other disciplines and provide a seamless service where trees and woodlands are an essential aspect of the overall strategy and contract delivery.
What you will bring to us:
- Applicants should hold a suitable qualification (e.g FdSc Arb, BSc or Technician’s Certificate, minimum level 3 in Arboriculture or higher in closely related field)
- Lantra Professional Tree Inspection qualification
- Membership of the Arboricultural Association or the Institute of Chartered Foresters
- A sound level of arboricultural knowledge, including BS5837:2012 and BS3998:2010, be competent in tree identification, inspection, condition assessment and necessary management options.
- Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation
- Demonstrable ability to produce Arboriculture Impact Assessments (AIA), Arboriculture Method Statements (AMS) and Tree Hazard Reports.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft packages and ideally GIS systems and tree survey software.
- Excellent tree identification skills
- Effective Communicator
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent record keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible attitude and approach to work
- Self-motivated able to work without supervision.
- A full driving licence will be required.
