We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Bridge Inspector to join our SBIM account based in Severn Bridge.
Starting Salary: £26,582.00 per annum
Location: Severn Bridge Specialist Bridges - M5 Avonmouth Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge, M48 Severn Bridge.
Working hours per week: Monday - Friday 7:00 - 15:30, Possible overtime weekend & Night work. 40hrs/week

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Civil Engineering Technician Level 3 programme, which takes approximately 39 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college, with 1‑2‑1 guidance, e‑learning materials, and a team of experts on hand to provide advice and technical knowledge in your workplace.

Severn Bridges is working in partnership with National Highways on the Specialist Bridges Inspection & Maintenance contract across three major structures in the Southwest of England over a 15‑year period. This includes: M5 Avonmouth Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and M48 Severn Bridge.
We are responsible for cyclic maintenance, daily structural inspection checks, safety patrols, and responding to incidents affecting structural integrity.
What you will do:
- Work alongside Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors to contribute to civil engineering solutions.
- Ensure all works are carried out within H&S requirement, policies and methodologies.
- Comply with CDM/DMRB legislation, regulations and policies.
- Utilise quality assurance management and assurance systems to plan, manage, monitor and implement civil engineer solutions.
- Collaborate and engage with colleagues and the Client delivering bridge inspections on all three structures.
- Ensure that all documentation, work orders and service sheets are completed and returned to the office for approvals.
What you will bring:
- GCSEs at grade C or higher, including Mathematics, English and Science, or equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to demonstrate basic technical skills within the relevant discipline, with a strong desire to develop your competencies throughout the apprenticeship.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety.
- Enthusiasm to be part of a high‑performing team and a drive for success.
- Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally.
- DBS requirement.
