Title: Porter
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an In-House Porter to provide distribution, Portering and moves services to all users of MoD Whitehall Group Buildings of the Project Agreement and in accordance with the Facilities Management Agreement to deliver the required service levels.
The standard hours of work are 36.25 per week.
What you will do:
- Undertake Help Desk instructions in line with priorities to ensure completion within stated timescales and immediate feedback to supervisors on completion.
- Accept, receipt and check deliveries following off-loading by the goods inwards team.
- Ensure that following receipt that all goods are sorted, delivered, or collected in a timely manner to customers in accordance with service level agreements. In addition, ensure that customers sign for all goods received.
- Aid the Churn team for furniture, crates and other equipment.
- Undertake provision of break-out areas on all floors with the appropriate levels of stock of toners and paper.
- Delivery of specific consumables directly to customer’s desk following Helpdesk calls.
- To attend to the regular replacement of flags due to life cycle, laundering and relevant days as regulated by the Department Media, Culture and Sport. In addition, occasions where flags are required to be lowered and raised as a mark of remembrance.
- Attend to conference set up/take down as per instructions received by Amey’s Conference team. In addition, provide checks of the equipment and furniture for any damage and report to line manager for repair or potential replacement.
- Ensure that water dispensers are supplied, replenished and drip trays are not overflowing, and dispensers are clean.
- Utilise Concept to be able to log, retrieve, update, and sign off tasks assigned.
- Record the number of items delivered of all goods daily.
- Provide a polite, timely and efficient service to all users of MoD Main Building.
- Ensure access is secure and all security regulations are complied with.
What you will bring:
- Demonstrate knowledge of goods receipt and delivery system, JSP 367 and JSP 440.
- Team player, being able to work willingly and effectively on your own or within a team to achieve objectives.
- Relevant security clearance is essential.
- Flexible attitude to a changing environment to achieve business goals.
- Knowledge of Portering Duties
- Able to work in a shift pattern between 08:00 – 18:00 and occasional overtime if required.
- Civil Service or Armed Forces environment
