We are recruiting for Winter Patrol Drivers (Highways Maintenance Operatives) to join our Kent County Council Account, these roles are seasonal and will run during the period of December 2024 – March 2025 from our Swanley Highways Depot, The Teardrop Centre, Swanley, BR8 8TJ.
The Winter Patrol Drivers plays a vital part in Winter Patrol Operations, this will include road gritting, maintenance works and litter picking.
You will be responsible for:
- The safety of yourself and others within your team, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect member of the public
- Carrying out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books
- Driving and operating a gritter to grit the roads on a rota basis
- Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system
- Attending project and work briefings as required
- Keeping records, completing all necessary paperwork, communicating, and liaising with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A valid HGV Class 2 license, and a full Drivers CPC qualification card
- Previous winter experience and a telehandler qualification would be preferred
- Problem solving skills
- Self-motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions
- Good communication skills
