Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for Permanent Finance Business Partner to join our Sheffield Highways contract on a hybrid basis.

 

Streets Ahead is a city-wide highways maintenance contract that is responsible for upgrading and maintaining the condition of Sheffield’s roads, pavements, street lights, bridges and other street furniture, over a 25-year period. The contract is worth over £2bn and will transform the condition of Sheffield’s roads to some of the best in the country. The Core Investment Period ran the first five years of the contract (2012 – 2017), and we’re now into the remaining 20-year lifecycle period to maintain the infrastructure at its improved standard. 

The Finance Business Partner will be an important part of the Finance team on the Sheffield Highways PFI contract.  Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will work closely with Commercial and Operations Managers to provide a clear view of business performance, driving forward successful decision making. You will also be responsible for monthly accounts production for operation and construction areas of the contract, budgeting and forecasting and will work closely with the Finance team.

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week. Ideally with 2/3 days on site.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Working with senior management including operations and commercial colleagues to drive effective decision making
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Responsible for ensuring correct cost allocation across contract works
  • Analysis of scheme profitability and cost variances, including reconciliations of salaries, fleet and material costs
  • Preparation of business budgets and forecasts and management of actual performance against the latest budget/forecast
  • Responsible for reporting Aged WIP and other Balance Sheet reconciliations as required
  • Support in producing the contract cash forecast
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualified (ACCA/CIMA) with significant post qualification experience
  • Extensive experience of business forecasting and modelling
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to form working relationships with operations and commercial colleagues to drive effective decision making
  • Experience of working within Infrastructure environment, specifically Highways, Rail, Construction would be preferred.
  • Proficient in the use and manipulation of data within MS Excel, with experience in financial modelling being a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of SAP would be a distinct advantage
