Title:  Arborist Supervisor

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Arborist Supervisor to join our dynamic Sheffield account. This role will be carried out on site at our Olive Grove depot (S2 3GE).

This position offers a competitive salary and overtime.

The standard working hours for this role are 40 hours a week.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of tree maintenance crews, ensuring all planned and reactive works are carried out to specification and on time.
  • Coordinate schedules and resource allocation, ensuring effective deployment of labour, plant, and equipment.
  • Conduct site assessments and pre-work inspections to identify scope, risks, and necessary permissions such as road space permits and utility drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and company policies.
  • Deliver pre start shift briefings and toolbox talks, and ensure safe systems of work are followed, including traffic management and site signage.
  • Monitor use of PPE and adherence to LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH regulations.
  • Monitor and inspect completed works to ensure they meet contractual and quality standards, including adherence to BS 3998:2010.
  • Ensure accurate completion of paperwork, including risk assessments, vehicle checks, and LOLER checks.
  • Report non-compliance or service failures and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for local authority representatives and other stakeholders on site.
  • Attend client meetings, site audits, and respond to enquiries or complaints from the public.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, works completed, equipment use, and incidents.
  • Contribute to contract reporting, , and performance reviews.
  • Assist with planning future works, budgets, and resource requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent.
  • NPTC/LANTRA qualifications (e.g., CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39).
  • Full UK driving licence (preferably with trailer entitlement – B+E).
  • Experience supervising arboricultural or highway vegetation teams.
  • Strong understanding of highway safety regulations and traffic management.
  • Knowledge of tree legislation (TPOs, conservation areas, felling licences).
  • First Aid at Work (Forestry) qualification.
  • Good communication and IT skills.
