Your New Role

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Estimator to join our Group Commercial Team supporting our Complex Facilities Business Unit. This is a remote role that will require weekly travel.  

The purpose of the Principal Estimator is to support the complex facilities division in producing high quality estimates and tender submissions that support the overall business strategy, checking and complying with Amey governance, ensuring the business secures profitable bids with a balanced risk profile.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be leading pricing key strategic bids and frameworks with a value if up to £2Bn.

 

The standard hours of work are based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the pricing key strategic project and framework opportunities, often leading a team of estimators to a common goal.
  • Acting as subject matter expert for Estimating within the Business Unit.
  • Providing professional estimating expertise into the business unit functions to ensure profitable projects are secured.
  • Liaising with other estimating, operational and commercial staff to delivery high quality, robust pricing submissions.
  • Coaching / mentoring and development of staff, both in the estimating discipline and wider business functions to ensure the work winning process and procedures are embedded and adhered to.
  • Leading the evaluation and pricing of risk and opportunity on tenders.
  • Ensuring a comprehensive and robust handover to post-contract delivery teams is undertaken for all secured tenders.
  • Maintaining a library of outputs and pricing data to enable both internal and tender benchmarking.
  • Attending client engagement meetings/sites

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A qualification of either a HNC or degree in a related discipline
  • Experience within FM (both soft and hard FM)
  • Extensive experience within a similar role
  • A very good knowledge of differing standard forms of Contract (including but not limited to Crown Commercial Service Frameworks) within the field of practice and the ability to communicate any pricing and commercial issues concisely and effectively to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • The ability to provide strategic estimating and contract advice to Director level stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Skilled in negotiation and influencing.
  • Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Guidelines.
  • The ability to evaluate a tender specification and quantify the labour, plant and materials required to carry out the requirements
  • Prepare detailed analytical tenders and estimates from first principles within time constraints, support the Head of Estimating on bids.
