Title: Junior Estimator
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Junior Estimator to join our Group Commercial Team supporting our Complex Facilities Business Unit. This is a remote role that requires weekly travel.
HOURS OF WORK – Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Complex Facilities division in producing high quality estimates and tender submissions for hard and soft building maintenance services, supporting business strategy, checking and complying with Amey governance, and ensuring the business secures profitable bids with a balanced risk profile.
Reporting to the Head of Estimating, you will receive guidance and training to support the pricing of bids and frameworks.
What you will do:
- Using company models to establish time and materials needed to undertake maintenance services
- Working on varied bids that can cover hundreds of sites with annual values into the millions
- Supporting other estimators on their bids in data analysis
- Reading and summarising tender documents
- Sorting and categorising client asset data in excel
- Liaising with other departments to ensure that all maintenance costs are captured correctly
- Completing client pricing returns
- Undertaking site visits and representing the company when required (a valid UK driving licence is essential)
- Following company governance procedures and presenting cost summaries
- Reviewing tender scoring evaluation criteria and pricing any potential opportunities for future revenue growth
What you will bring:
- Graduated from a technical or business degree, looking for your first working role or looking to move into a different role
- Have work experience in a similar role desired but not essential
- Enjoy working with MS Excel and data
- Have a desire to work in pricing and commercial roles
- Are keen to learn from other estimating professionals
- Pay attention to detail and have a desire to win
- Are a team player who is helpful and gets on with people, even under pressure
- Have good time keeping ability and can cope with peaks and troughs in workload
- Are proactive and self-motivated towards better ways of working
- Have an ability to communicate pricing and commercial issues concisely and effectively to bid teams
