Title: Governance & Assurance Business Partner
We have an exciting opportunity for a Governance & Assurance Business Partner to join our Transport Infrastructure HSEQ Team directly supporting our Highways business. We are seeking someone who shares our passion for enabling and delivering true operational excellence.

What makes this role unique?
In this role, the Governance & Assurance Business Partner is responsible for making sure that systems, processes, and operations comply with organisational objectives, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive industry experience, knowledge, and skills to support key stakeholders across the business in developing effective solutions that enable our business to meet our priorities. The role will report directly to our newly created role of Head of Governance and Assurance for Transport Infrastructure.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Developing and implementing governance frameworks - establishing clear structures, policies and procedures to ensure accountability and transparency.
- Assurance activities – ensuring robust arrangements are implemented in areas such as reviews, audits, and other assurance activities to verify systems and processes are working effectively and meeting required standards.
- Risk management – working with others to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks including compliance, operational, and strategic risks.
- Continuous improvement - identifying opportunities to enhance all aspects of our management systems based on performance data and industry best practices.
- Stakeholder engagement - collaborating with various stakeholders to promote a culture of risk awareness, compliance and embracing organisation changes enabling smooth adoption.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Extensive industry experience in developing and working with digital systems and initiatives aligned to management systems, governance and assurance frameworks.
- Proven experience working in a large diverse multi discipline and multi-site organisation with excellent knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, especially relating to the Highways sector in the UK and/or abroad.
- Excellent relationship/stakeholder management skills, including being comfortable challenging others with pragmatism, energy, enthusiasm, and resilience.
- A proven self-starter and disciplined with proactive planning and organisational skills and the agility to multitask and meet deadlines.
- A customer centric and excellent end user goal experience mindset.
- Degree and relevant professional qualifications (such as CQP, CRA, Lead Auditor) desirable but not essential.
