Starting salary: £11.61 per hour (subject to 2025 review)
Shift pattern: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm

The Team and Role
Amey is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Northeast since August 2022, with an increased focus on supporting the creation of sustainable futures for communities, together we will achieve net zero targets and improve the customer experience. Covering 593Km of network, we provide routine highways, bridges and structure maintenance as well as designing and managing road safety schemes. By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.
As an Intern, you will work alongside the team to:
- Planning and undertaking bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
- Developing innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
- Preparing technical drawings and reports.
- Undertake numerical analysis and calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity.
- Proposing strengthening and maintenance options.
- You will use your engineering knowledge and skills to deliver robust structural assessments, which will enable clients to continue the safe, efficient, and optimal management of their structure assets.

What We Need From You
- England-based applicants will typically require at least 5 GCSEs at Grades A*-C / 9-4 including Maths (Grade B / 5 or 6), English, and Science or their equivalent. Applicants based in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland should expect to demonstrate an equivalent level of academic qualifications to those required in England.
- Any Engineering related Studies
- A Full UK driving License
