We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Streetlighting Operative to join our dynamic Norfolk team. This role will be based on site at our Brooke Depot (NR15 1HJ).

 

In this role, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing of highway electrical systems such as street lighting, while working towards NVQ Level 2/3 and HERS registration. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Installation & Maintenance
    • Assist with installing street lighting columns, illuminated signs, and feeder pillars.
    • Support routine and reactive maintenance, including lamp changes and fault diagnosis.
    • Help with emergency call-outs (e.g., damaged streetlights after accidents).
  • Testing & Compliance
    • Learn to carry out electrical inspection and testing under supervision.
    • Follow Health & Safety procedures and Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records of work and training progress.
  • Learning & Development
    • Attend block-release training for NVQ Level 2/3 and HEA-approved courses (Safe Isolation, G39, BS7671 Wiring Regulations).
    • Complete off-the-job training (minimum 20% of working hours).
    • Build a portfolio of evidence for competency assessment.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Safety-conscious and willing to learn.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).
  • Ability to pass ECS Health & Safety test for HERS card
