We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Site Engineer - Track to join our TRU account in Manchester – On site working role.

 

 

Transpennine Amey is working in partnership with Network Rail on the Transpennine route upgrade project since 2018, with an increased focus on providing reliable, frequent, faster, and greener railways to the North of England. Covering 76 miles of railway between Manchester, Leeds, York, Selby and onto Humberside, we lay the foundations, covering upgrades to civils, track, railway systems and electrification to the west of Leeds. By completing such works, we aim to support Network Rail with cutting carbon emissions and ensuring to deliver a smoother, more enjoyable journey to their customers.

 

Site Engineer – Track plays an important part in assisting the Senior Engineer by providing technical support for all allocated contract works. To assist in finding engineering solutions to ensure conformance to the specification and compliant delivery to programme. Contribute to the overall planning and site delivery of the works allocated by the SE.

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs with some weekend and nights.

 

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Assisting in managing the engineering activity on the allocated projects including support for design reviews; communication and consultation with other functions (design, install and test) over changes; and interfaces with other disciplines (including facilitating inter-disciplinary check meetings).
  • Assist in Advising the Renewals Manager on engineering requirement and specification issues, including marking out of sites and ensuring each stage of construction is acceptable and signed off before works progress
  • Carry out and record briefings of technical updates to the project team, including sub-contractors, promote best practice and pro-actively identify to resource owners additional training requirements and development opportunities
  • Assist the Senior Engineer and if required, the Renewals Manager in developing the plan for engineering resource required to deliver the project plan, assist in the production of the WPP’s / TB’s and risk assessments proposed for the work
  • Carry out and record briefings of technical updates to the engineering staff and advise renewals managers of likely changes required for current schemes. Set the standard for working practices and actively promote self-development of engineers.
  • Responsible for drafting and editing WPP’s / TB’s for all allocated works are produced and in place, and that the content is to a high standard. Carry out regular checks and audits. 
  • Undertake duties and tasks for the engineering element of the allocated project(s) as instructed by the SE

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

 

  • Previous experience in Rail -Track environment (ideally in a renewals project environment)
  • Engineering professional qualifications - HNC or equivalent
  • Experience of railway construction planning and of specific discipline
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or SMSTS / SSSTS) - Preferred
  • PTS
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Temporary works - preferred
