Title: Project Engineer - Track
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Project Engineer - Track to join our dynamic Transpire team at Manchester. On-site, 37.5 hrs per week.
In this role, you will offer necessary site support to the project team throughout the Track renewals work to ensure critical engineering decisions are made quickly and issues are resolved to maintain compliance. Advise the Renewals Manager on engineering needs and specifications. This includes marking out sites and ensuring each stage of construction is completed and approved before moving forward.
This role offers you the unique opportunity to work on one of the biggest contracts awarded by Network Rail, within the UK Rail industry.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop mentoring and training plans for engineers and apprentices under your guidance.
- Help manage engineering tasks on assigned projects. This includes supporting design reviews, communicating with other teams (design, installation, and testing) about changes, and coordinating with other disciplines.
- Provide technical briefings to the project team, including sub-contractors.
- Promote best practices and identify additional training needs and development opportunities for team members.
- Support the Senior Engineer and, if needed, the Renewals Manager in planning the engineering resources needed to complete the project.
- Assist in creating Work Package Plans (WPPs), Task Briefings (TBs), and risk assessments.
- Draft and edit WPPs and TBs for all assigned work, ensuring they are of high quality. Conduct regular checks and audits.
- The role involves both office and site work. You must visit the site as needed (including weekends and/or night shifts) to deliver assigned tasks within the TRU track contract.

What You’ll Bring:
- Strong Track engineering and renewals work experience in both Track and S&C.
- Previous experience in developing integrated delivery plans working with other disciplines to achieve a deliverable programme of works.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team.
- Proficient MS Projects user
