The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Engineer to join our Consulting team. With shared office space in our Belfast office and the ability to work remotely we invite applications from across Northern Ireland.

As part of our growing engineering team, you’ll collaborate and engage with colleagues through a combination of home and office-based working, delivering projects throughout Northern Ireland and further afield. You will gain invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts on varied and exciting, high-profile infrastructure projects

The role

Our Engineers play an important part within the team and alongside our clients. As an Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of Civils schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers.

Responsibilities include:

• To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
• Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
• Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
• Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload
• Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function
• Drive effective health and safety practices within the team

What you will bring to us:

• Developed experience and expertise within Civil engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
• An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
• Takes ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables, and can check deliverables to a reasonable standard
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools
• Demonstrates good commercial awareness
• Has a good understanding of CDM and risk assessment. Experienced in the management and
• communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied
• Demonstrates a good understanding of interface management, and ensures own deliverables align with deliverables produced by other disciplines
• Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence and to the level defined by your education
• Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
