We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic Transpire (TRU) team at Manchester. 37.5 hrs per week on site working role.

 

 

In this role, you will support the Project Manager by, supporting in delivery of allocated contracts, safely and in accordance with legislation and Amey Procedures to contract specification and programme. Assistant Project Manager ensures project compliance with statutory legislation, Network Rail Group and Company Standards, and Amey management systems, processes and procedures.

 

This position allows individuals to develop practical skills and learn from the Project Manager’s expertise. Assistant Project Managers handle many of the same responsibilities as Project Managers, making it an excellent stepping stone for those aspiring to higher project management roles.

 

 

This role offers you the unique opportunity to join a once in a generation Rail project which is transforming the rail network between Manchester and Leeds, providing the communities with a faster, reliable and sustainable transport network.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for supporting the Project Manager in developing comprehensive project plans, defining scope, milestones, and deliverables, as well as assisting in establishing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, track timelines and resources, and report any issues or delays to the Project Manager. Adjust timelines as necessary and prepare regular status updates for the Project Manager.
  • Assist in producing accurate forecasts for cost and turnover to achieve projected margins for assigned contracts.
  • Support site monitoring, cost control, and reporting for allocated contracts in a timely manner and using the approved format.
  • Submit weekly and period-end reports in an agreed format, including Amey Essentials KPIs.
  • Participate in the contract review process.
  • Provide support during tender processes and related strategies as required.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies. Identify potential disruptions, such as adverse weather, supply chain delays, or technical challenges.
  • Implement quality control processes and ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, client regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and project plans.
  • Conduct inspections and participate in quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet established standards.
  • Promote adherence to safety protocols and encourage safe practices among team members.

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Previous construction industry experience in civil engineering – rail experience preferred
  • Proficient IT user
  • SSSTS/CSCS
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar rol
