We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Assistant Construction Manager - Rail Electrification, to join our Transpire account in Manchester – On site role.

 

 

Transpennine Amey is working in partnership with Network Rail on the Transpennine route upgrade project since 2018, with an increased focus on providing reliable, frequent, faster, and greener railways to the North of England. Covering 76 miles of railway between Manchester, Leeds, York, Selby and onto Humberside, we lay the foundations, covering upgrades to civils, track, railway systems and electrification to the west of Leeds. By completing such works, we aim to support Network Rail with cutting carbon emissions and ensuring to deliver a smoother, more enjoyable journey to their customers

 

 

 

Assistant Construction Manager – Rail Electrification, plays an important part in assisting the Construction Manager in delivering allocated contract safely in accordance with legislation and Alliance procedures to contract specification and programme, while effectively supervising and delivering the approved construction programmes to the agreed resource and cost plans. Key knowledge of the installation types and methodology for OLE foundations and minor civils works. Experience of CHS piling, concrete augers, integral wall, viaducts/bridge fixings, precast and concrete pads.

 

 

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs with some weekend and nights.

 

 

You will be responsible for:

 

 

  • To promote and lead safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below
  • To adhere to the Alliance Essentials (Zero Code, PDR’s etc.) as applicable
  • Responsible for the submission of accurate site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable
  • Ensure that toolbox talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts
  • Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working
  • Responsible for ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices
  • Responsible for ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely off–hire
  • Monitor sub-contractors, contract staff and contingent/direct labour for allocated site activities
  • The role requirement is essentially site supervision and certain aspects of OLE construction planning. The role requires attendance in the office on site. It is a requirement of the role to attend site when required (including weekends and / or night shifts) to deliver allocated works within the TRU OLE contract.

 

 

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of railway construction management for the OLE discipline especially foundation works.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessment process, exclusion zones, working at height, AC power systems.
  • Understanding of Railway planning systems
  • PTS/COSS/IWA
  • In date AtW
  • Must be able to drive
  • SMSTS (or SSSTS as a minimum)
