We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineering Graduate based in Lurgan. 

 

Starting Salary: £28,500.00 (Subject to review)  

Location: 37 Annesborough Road, Lurgan, Craigavon, Co Armagh, BT67 9JD 

Working hours per week:  Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30, occasional Night and weekend work. 40hrs/week  

Start date: September 2026

Amey operates and maintains the (DBFO 2) Project Road comprising sections of the A1, M1, A4, A101 and M12.  There are over 125 kilometres (approx. 540 lane kms) of public road, 1200 streetlights, 170 structures and over 11,000 road gullies. 

 

What you will do: 

 

The purpose of the Highways Engineer role will be carrying out inspections and collect data relating to all highway assets on the A1, M1 and A4 high speed roads – to safeguard the travelling public, client and Amey. 

  • Carry out periodic inspections as per the Contract. 

  • Ensure accurate and effective collation of data. 

  • Ensure contract compliance on data quality management issues. 

  • Develop timely and accurate reports. 

  • Comply with the relevant health and safety legislation. 

  • Assist with the establishment and implementation of a programme of inspections and investigations. 

  • Assist with project administration as required. 

  • Record time accurately in project control systems. 

  • Out of hours working to support service contract requirements. 

  • Standby for emergencies. 

  • Successful completion of mandatory NHSS training requirement. 

  • Undertake appropriate training with the addition of new equipment and systems as and when necessary, via formal and informal training, including on the job training. 

  • In accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, all employees have a duty to comply with all Health and Safety Procedures and to be alert in identifying potential hazards by removing or minimising them wherever possible. 

  • Any other duties reasonably requested within the skills required for the role. 

 

What you will bring: 

 

  • Minimum 2:2 Civil Engineering or related profession degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) is desirable. 

  • Full UK driving license 

  • Reasonably good verbal communicator who can present arguments and ideas. 

  • Can produce reports to a good standard. 

  • Have good networking and Problem-solving skills. 

  • Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally. 

  • Have the enthusiasm to be part of a high performing team and a drive for success. 

  • DBS requirement.
