The Team and Role
Amey is working in partnership with Area 12 Highways England since June 2021. Area 12 is made up of 476km dual carriageway, 179km single carriageway and 1,963 structures. We provide routine, cyclic and winter maintenance and response across Yorkshire and Humberside, also overseeing traffic management during incidents and the operation of the ten maintenance depots in the region. Ensuring our roads are well- maintained and well- managed, through all-weather seasons we aim to help reduce traffic incidents and severity of road accidents as well as ensure road user of Yorkshire and Humberside feel safer.
As a Commercial Graduate, your overall objective of this role is to ensure the effective delivery and maintenance of infrastructure services within Area 12.
You will work alongside the team to:
- Support the Commercial Team in exercising best practice with risk, change, cost, and value management of projects.
- Assisting in producing monthly and/or weekly cost and value data, providing and monitoring budgets to support the Commercial team in production of forecasts to completion of the project(s) including CVR reporting and WIP management in line with contractual entitlement
- Support the management and procurement team in all aspects of subcontract/supplier procurement and payment in accordance with governance and fair payment processes to ensure timely and fully justified payments are made.
- Financial Management of schemes, creating applications.
- Cost management and control, processing sub-contractor.
- Applications and change management.

What We Need From You
As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities. We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Civil Engineering, Building Surveying or Quantity Surveying 2.2 Degree,
- UK’s full driving licence.
