Highways Maintenance Operative

Your New Role

Join our team for an amazing opportunity as a permanent, Highways Maintenance Operative in Stafford. This role will be based on-site at Gailey depot - ST19 5PR.

You'll be an essential part of our Stafford account, which has been working with Staffordshire County Council since 2014 to manage and maintain the county's highways infrastructure. We take pride in delivering exceptional infrastructure services across 6,000KM of Staffordshire, ensuring roads, cycle routes, bridges, tunnels, lighting, drainage, traffic signals, trees, and land are well-maintained to enhance the lives of local residents and communities. 

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week

You will be responsible for:

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance. 

• Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills. 

• Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance. 

• Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system. 

• Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers. 

We want to hear from you if you have:

• Experience in roads and/or street works  

• Hold a full UK driving licence. (Ideally have an HGV license, Class 2) 

• Desirable to have 12D M1-M2 (High-Speed Traffic Management) competency, though not mandatory as we provide required development.
