Your New Role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Responsible Person Gas to join our FDIS Rams Gas Compliance Team in a mobile role covering MOD housing in and around Edinburgh/Rosyth, Scotland. This is a varied and challenging role, with a wide range of responsibility.

Responsible Person Gas plays an important part in Amey to ensure the requirements of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and the DIO Gas Safety Case are complied with in all activities undertaken on the establishments within their area of responsibility.   

 

The standard hours of work are 37.5 Monday to Friday

You will be responsible for

 

  • Implementation and operation of gas safety in area of responsibility.
  • Assess the competence of Gas Skilled Persons for appointment and review experience and performance. Ensure Skilled Persons are aware of any restrictions related to their work. Where necessary, suspend the appointment of Skilled Persons.
  • Maintain register of Skilled Persons for continual monitoring of competence and training.
  • Write and maintain Gas Safety Management Plans for each area of responsibility and familiarisation and knowledge across all sites within the Service Delivery Area.
  • Investigate all reported gas incidents in full, completing detailed reports and putting in place corrective actions when required to mitigate future incidents.
  • Arrange and carry out supply chain office audits of gas safety processes and procedures.
  • Provide professional and technical support, and advice, where required to maintenance and project teams, DIO, and end users.
  • Review risk assessments, method statements and where necessary safety programs and Gas Permits to Work.
  • Liaise closely with the Gas Safety manager, operations, and project managers for continued compliance throughout the MOD estate, seeking guidance as necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with gas industry changes, current regulations, and legislation.
  • Maintain continual personal/professional development.
  • Maintain a positive environment in which Skilled Persons and other team members engage and follow in the requirements of the Gas Safety Case, with a self-motivated attitude to gas safety.

 

We want to hear from you if you have: 

 

Experience in management of Gas Safe Systems of Work. Extensive knowledge of compliance in gas utilisation.  Are a self-motivated individual who can work off own initiative and maintain and manage your own workload.

  • Essential ACS qualifications – CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, and CPA1 with significant experience within the gas industry.
  • LPG qualifications would be desirable.
  • Non-domestic gas qualifications would be desirable.
  • CMDDA1 and GL8 - Gas Incident Investigation (desirable although training would be given)
  • Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g., SMSTS)
  • Developed IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word etc.) necessity, with a good level of report writing.
  • Auditing experience.
  • IGEM EngTech level membership (desirable, although gaining EngTech membership is required as part of the role)
  • Technical qualifications & training as required by JSP 375. (desirable, although training will be given)

In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience with Gas Distribution Networks and training in Safe Control of Operations, SHEA Gas and Escape Locate and Repair works to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
