The Opportunity

 

We, at Amey, are thrilled to announce our expansion across Ireland. With our office located in central Dublin, we are set to grow our presence across the Republic of Ireland over the coming months, building on our existing presence in Northern Ireland. This expansion will bolster our support for a range of major Highway and Railway projects across the island.

 

Our expertise in the asset management, design, procurement, and supervision of major infrastructure in the Highways, railways and property sectors has driven our success. In addition to our offices in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, we are intensifying our investment in Ireland, and over the past six months, have established a small team of dedicated professionals.

 

Our Director, Rodney Moffett, highlighted recent Government commitments to investments in transport infrastructure, Metrolink, Luas extensions, and BusConnects. Additionally, significant upgrades to electricity infrastructure across the island underscore our strategic decision to invest in Ireland.

 

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal ITS Engineer to join our Consulting design hub in Dublin. This is a hybrid role, offering you flexibility to work between the office and home.

The ITS Engineer will be responsible for assisting the ITS Technical Services Lead in carrying out the design and assurance of the ITS that are to be implemented along each of the Schemes to ensure the optimal solution for bus operations post construction and for optimal ITS operations during construction

 

 

 

What you will bring to us:

  • Extensive experience implementing ITS across the project lifecycle through to completion on high value urban road or infrastructure projects or projects of a similar scale / complexity to CBCIW
  • Further demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following is desirable:
    • The following areas within Intelligent Transport Systems
      • Traffic signal controller design, documentation and assurance
      • Adaptive traffic control software e.g., SCATS, SCOOT, SPOT, MOVA, INFLOW; design development, documentation and implementation
      • Junction design testing and evaluation
      • Microsimulation modelling assessment
      • ITS equipment design development and assessment
      • Fully competent in the understanding of strategic modelling, junction models and microsimulation modelling programmes
      • Fully competent in the understanding of the integration of traffic modelling programmes with microsimulation software to mimic urban traffic control systems
      • Signal systems to provide bus priority
    • Carrying out technical assurance activities across the programme lifecycle through to completion in high value road projects
    • Reviewing ITS designs, drawings, assessments and reports produced internally and externally by third parties
    • Driving best practice in technical activities, processes, policies, and standards
    • Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of processes and providing guidance to support project delivery and reporting
    • Safety processes and requirements of ITS design and construction of road projects
    • Delivering within regulated and unionised environments; and o Delivering solutions and results in dynamic environments.
  • Fully competent in assessing traffic modelling (Strategic, junction and microsimulation) results and reports
  • Fully competent in assessing traffic signal designs and ITS equipment designs
  • Engaging with a range of ITS stakeholders at all levels across multiple Local Authorities, TII, Gardai, etc
  • Assisting in developing strategies to minimise the impact of traffic during the construction phases.
  • Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer & Member of relevant engineering professional institution is desirable
  • SafePass accreditation is desirable
