The Opportunity

 

We at Amey, are thrilled to announce our expansion across Ireland. With our office located in central Dublin, we are set to grow our presence across the Republic of Ireland over the coming months, building on our existing presence in Northern Ireland. This expansion will bolster our support for a range of major Highway and Railway projects across the island.

 

Our expertise in the asset management, design, procurement, and supervision of major infrastructure in the Highways, railways and property sectors has driven our success. In addition to our offices in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, we are intensifying our investment in Ireland, and over the past six months, have established a small team of dedicated professionals.

 

Our Director, Rodney Moffett, highlighted recent Government commitments to investments in transport infrastructure, Metrolink, Luas extensions, and BusConnects. Additionally, significant upgrades to electricity infrastructure across the island underscore our strategic decision to invest in Ireland.

 

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Civil Design Engineer to join our Consulting design hub in Dublin. This is a hybrid role, offering you flexibility to work between the office and home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support / assistance in the production of the tender design for the civil engineering aspects of CBCIW
  • Required to provide support and expert input in relation to the design of the infrastructural elements of CBCIW including road, cycle ways, footpaths, temporary works, utilities and drainage
  • The support the role holder will be required to supply may include drawings, schedules of quantities, calculations, compliance documentation and contract documentation.

 

 

 

What you will bring to us:

  • Extensive Civil Engineering experience with a proven track record conducting technical design and assurance activities across the project lifecycle through to completion in high value road and / or infrastructure projects or projects of a similar scale / complexity to CBCIW
  • Further demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following is desirable:
    • Overseeing the development and delivery of detail designs including design drawings (including 3D designs where applicable) for development projects
    • All aspects of development infrastructure developments from strategic appraisal through to construction
    • Industry standard software models such as Microdrainage, Infodrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
    • Working in a multi-disciplinary design team, and have excellent communication skills with architects, clients, and planning consultants
    • Road and pavement design experience including working knowledge of the relevant DMURS and TII guidelines new roads cycle tracks and footpath designs
    • Flood Risk Assessments including Section 50 applications
    • Microdrainage and/or Infodrainage software and sustainable Urban Drainage Systems
    • Driving best practice in technical activities, processes, policies and standards
    • The design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural, engineering or construction sectors
    • Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of processes and providing guidance to support project delivery and reporting
    • Quality management and process improvement practices and systems is desirable, preferably within the construction sector
  • Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Civil Engineer & Member of relevant engineering professional institution is desirable
  • SafePass accreditation is desirable
