The Opportunity
Amey is looking for a Discipline Lead to lead our Transport Planning team in the UK. With shared officed in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow and more we welcome applicants from across the country.

The role
The Discipline Lead for Transport Planning will be responsible for the professional development and people management of all practice resource as well as the development of commercially viable client propositions, differentiated offerings and innovation and thought leadership in relevant areas of expertise. They will work collaboratively with peers across the practice directorate and client delivery teams to deliver exceptional client solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Liaises with Business Development colleagues to develop pipeline and associated resource requirements. Provides input into Strategy and Business Development function on market trends and developments.
- Liaises with Business Director and Client Delivery Directors to understand resource requirements and provide expert input into shaping project & resourcing plans.
- Liaises with Operations colleagues to clarify forward resource requirements supply and demand.
- Actively inputs into bidding activity including development of win strategy and delivery of bid content.
- Identifies and engages with key stakeholders to ensure robust resource management ensuring the practice is able to respond to resource requirements from projects and bids including attracting new talent into the organisation.
- Accountable for the economical utilisation of practice resources ensuring optimum level of skill and capability available on time to projects and bids.
- Embeds robust capability management, ensuring optimum level of skill and capability within resource pool.
- Develops clear plans to address any skill shortages or capability gaps. Ensures a pipeline of available talent mitigating future resource constraints and evidencing long term workforce planning.

- Ensures clear governance and reporting in place relating to people resourcing and capability. Ensures everyone understands what is expected of them through the setting of robust objectives, and ensures regular feedback is provided to manage performance.

- Lead by example embedding zero code and ensuring a robust safety culture.
- Drives change programmes as required to ensure optimum efficiency/utilisation.

- Degree qualified or equivalent experience
- Professional qualification in relevant field, or equivalent experience

Experience
- Extensive people management experience, credible leader with evidence of developing engaged and motivated teams
- Strong technical knowledge in Transport Planning
- Strong sector knowledge including relevant market opportunity
- Consultancy background
- Ability to develop clear client propositions
- Evidence of thought leadership/industry influence
