We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Operative to join our Severn Bridges Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) contract in Bristol, working on the Severn Bridge, Prince of Wales Bridge and Avonmouth Bridge. This role is onsite.

 

The SBIM contract is to deliver the inspection and maintenance programme along with scheme on behalf of National Highways. This is a great opportunity to learn about quality in the specialist structures industry.

 

The position of electrical operative offers a comfortable and enjoyable work setting, focusing on maintenance tasks for well-known bridges in the southwest. Responsibilities include both scheduled and emergency maintenance activities.

 

 The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week, Monday – Friday + overtime available

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist electrical testing of street lighting
  • Carry out routine maintenance
  • Block change and clean lanterns
  • Clean signs and bollards
  • Install electrical equipment
  • Excavate for bollard and sign foundations
  • Completion of required test sheets and work records
  • Working at heights of up to 12 metres
  • High demand for Physical tasks ie. Digging
  • There will be a requirement to work some unsociable hours and overtime
  • Provide support to other Amey contracts as required
  • Must have a mature and professional attitude to work, be resourceful and capable of working
  • independently and as part of a team
  • The job requires occasional contact with statutory Undertakers operative
  • Responsibility for the security of plant, tools and materials
  • Responsible for the safe use of vehicles
  • Responsibility for wearing all PPE
  • Responsible for own H&S and that of the public
  • Responsible for achieving own performance targets

  • Attendance at regular tool box talks are required
  • The post holder will attend all training deemed appropriate
